About Guoanni Qin

Guoanni (Annie) Qin is an accomplished pianist currently pursuing her Master of Music degree under the mentorship of Julian Martin at The Juilliard School, where she is honored to be the recipient of the Van Cliburn Prize, the John Post Scholarship, and the Olga Somaroff Award. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree at Oberlin Conservatory where she studied with Angela Cheng. During her undergraduate years, she distinguished herself through several notable achievements. Annie was the winner of Oberlin’s Concerto Competition and Rudolf Serkin Scholarship Competition. Additionally, she received the Carol Nott Piano Pedagogy Prize and third prize in the inaugural Peter Takacs Beethoven Piano Competition. Annie was also an active member of the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble and served as a resident performer at the Kendal Community at Oberlin with several solo recital and chamber music performance experience. Her orchestral engagements include performances of Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto with the Oberlin Orchestra under the baton of Raphael Jimenez and with the Xiamen Song & Dance Symphony Orchestra led by maestro Xiaotang Xia. Her recording of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Oberlin Orchestra has been selected for broadcast on WQXR’s Young Artists Showcase, New York’s premier classical radio program. Her exceptional talents have been recognized internationally; she won first prize at the Beijing International Piano Festival Competition, second prize in the Lancaster International Piano Competition, and second prize at the VII Paderewski International Piano Competition. Annie was also a finalist in the tenth New York International Piano Competition. In a row of 3 years (from 2022 to 2024), Annie was selected to participate in the prestigious Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival under a full scholarship and the 2024 Gilmore Piano Festival Fellowship Program. 

Born in 2001, Annie's foundational training began at the pre-college division of the Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou, where she was recognized as one of the top three talents in the piano department. This accolade led to her appearance at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2017. Throughout high school, Annie’s major achievements include winning first prizes in both the Yamaha Music Scholarship Competition in China and the Kunst und Frieden International Piano Competition in Germany, as well as third prize in the Vanke Mesa Steinway Piano Competition.

Annie has been heard in many countries as both soloist and chamber musician. In addition to her performance career, she is a passionate and dedicated educator when she began teaching students of various ages in 2020. Annie used to teach a secondary piano teacher at Oberlin for two years. For nearly two years, she has been serving as a secondary piano teacher and piano tutoring leader as a teaching fellow at Juilliard as well as an instructor of the Juilliard Extension program, where she shares her insights and expertise with students of varying levels. Annie is a piano faculty at West Amadeus Music Studio in NYC. 

Annie had performed in numerous masterclasses of a roster of distinguished musicians, including Maestro Andrzej Jasinski, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Dang Thai Son, Paul Lewis, Mikhail Voskresensky, Muza Rubackyte, Matti Raekallio, Jerome Lowenthal, Robert Lewin, Einar Steen-Nokleberg, Klaus Baessler, Peter Donohoe, Alexander Kobrin, Stanislav Ioudenitch, Rebecca Penneys, Douglas Humpherys, Haesun Paik, Yoon Hi Moon, Alexander Korsantia, Arthur Greene, Roberto Plano, Zhaoyi Dan, Yafen Zhu, Yunlin Yang, Ying Wu, Zhe Tang, and others, continually enriching her artistry and pedagogical approach.
